The Challenges and Remedies of COVID19

In the relatively tiny country of Switzerland alone recent *surveys reveal that more than 50% of employees are currently completely demoralised by the new lockdowns and this 2nd wave of the coronavirus.

And that is just Switzerland – the tendencies are the same right across Europe, and indeed the world.

It’s easy to understand why. Some organisations started home office in March 2020, so it might be a year or more before people see their colleagues in person again. So many of us have become jaded, struggling through video conference after video conference as if living through a digital Groundhog Day.

So with Christmas approaching, whilst CEOs and leadership teams continue to grapple with the daily operations of their organisations it’s easy to forget that there ARE solutions are out there.

Just one example is ‘Team from Home’, an opportunity for leaders to turn their teams or organisations into epic virtual orchestras.

Tried and tested, it is an energetic, joyous and heart warming experience that promotes communication (internal and external), enhances listening, and boosts performance.

Certainly if CEOs and leadership teams get it right at this time, there is an opportunity for them to rei-enforce a sense of belonging, and to build employee brand loyalty and trust in ways that we have never seen before.

Of course leaders want their employees to feel valued and cared about. Yes, there is the important pragmatic perspective of how we are taken care of from a financial perspective. But it is also more essential than ever before that people feel connected and together whilst they are apart. The companies that we work for will probably want to be remembered for just that.
