Terms and Conditions for the “BACK TO THE SOURCE” 

7-Day Retreat in Senegal, West Africa


General Information

These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the “BACK TO THE SOURCE” 7-day retreat held in rural Senegal, West Africa (hereinafter referred to as “the Retreat”). By registering for the Retreat, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Eligibility and Registration

  • Participants must be 18 years or older at the time of registration.

  • A completed registration form and payment of the non-refundable deposit are required to secure your spot in the Retreat.

Deposit and Payment

  • A non-refundable but transferable deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit may be transferred to another participant if you are unable to attend.

  • The remaining balance must be paid no later than six (6) weeks before the start date of the Retreat (by September 29, 2025). Failure to make the final payment by the deadline may result in forfeiture of your spot and deposit.

Retreat Inclusions and Exclusions

  • The Retreat fee includes:

    • Pre-trip group call

    • All accommodations in Senegal

    • All transportation in Senegal

    • Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner

    • All tickets for activities and excursions

    • Humanitarian activities and supplies and cultural immersion experiences

    • Materials and tailor service for 2 custom garments

  • Retreat fee does not include:

    • Flights to and from Africa

Retreat Itinerary

  • The Retreat itinerary includes yoga, humanitarian work, cultural workshops and activities, and excursions in Dakar and rural Senegal. Please refer to email communications or the retreat website for the overall itinerary.

  • Please note that all listed activities are subject to change due to weather, availability, or other unforeseen circumstances. The organizers will endeavor to replace any canceled activities with comparable alternatives.

Insurance and Liability

  • Participants must obtain comprehensive travel insurance at their own expense. This insurance should cover medical emergencies, accidents, trip cancellations, and personal liability.

  • The Retreat organizers are not liable for any loss, theft, damage to personal belongings, or injuries incurred during the Retreat.

  • Participation in the Retreat is at your own risk, and you accept full responsibility for your safety and well-being.

Health and Vaccinations

  • Vaccinations are a personal choice. Participants are encouraged to consult their healthcare provider for recommendations prior to traveling.

  • Participants must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions before the Retreat begins.

  • The organizers are not liable for any health-related issues that may arise during or after the Retreat.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be made in writing (email retreat@dougmanuel.com)

  • Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to another participant.

  • Cancellations made six (6) weeks or more before the Retreat start date (November 17, 2025) may be eligible for a refund of payments made, less the non-refundable deposit.

  • Cancellations made less than six (6) weeks before the Retreat start date (November 17, 2025) are non-refundable.

Media Release

By participating in the Retreat, you consent to the use of photographs or videos taken during the Retreat for promotional purposes for future retreats unless you notify the organizers in writing prior to the Retreat start date.

Documentary Notice

This retreat may be featured in an upcoming documentary by the organizers, Beats as One. A film crew may be present during the retreat to capture various activities and moments. Participants may choose not to be featured in the documentary. However, by agreeing to be featured, participants consent to appear in the documentary without any compensation and agree to sign all necessary release forms as required by the organizers. The Retreat organizers will advise participants at least six (6) weeks prior to departure.

Code of Conduct

  • Participants are expected to respect local customs, the natural environment, and fellow participants throughout the Retreat.

  • Disruptive or inappropriate behavior may result in the participant being asked to leave the Retreat without a refund.

Force Majeure

The organizers are not liable for delays, interruptions, or cancellations caused by events beyond their control, such as natural disasters, political unrest, pandemics, or other emergencies.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA. Any disputes will be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Delaware, USA.

Acknowledgment

By registering for the “BACK TO THE SOURCE” Retreat, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
